The wheel of pain works essentially like any other craft station: just add the fuel (in this case, food) and the object (Your NPC) and the wheel will slowly break the Thrall to follow your will. Once you have selected your target, you simply turn it off with a truncheon, bind it with Fiber Binding, and pull it to your Wheel of Pain. In addition to normal NPCs, there are higher-tier characters that are even more effective in their area. You can capture any NPC (except named story-related) character, but all have different specializations, like Archers or Blacksmiths, that make them fit for certain jobs as soon as they are broken.
